Overview
The Detmold N95 surgical respirator combines N95 particulate filtration with surgical Level 3 splash resistance in an Australian-made flat-fold design that expands into a convex shape. The Regular size fits the majority of adult faces and is the standard starting point for clinic respirator fit-testing programs.
Dual elastic head bands pull the seal evenly against the face — the fastening style preferred for fit-testing under AS/NZS 1715, and quantitatively assessed to P2 facial-fit requirements of AS/NZS 1716. Particulate filtration efficiency is ≥95% (42 CFR Part 84) with ≥98% bacterial filtration efficiency and blood splash resistance to Level 3, so the one respirator covers both airborne and splash-risk precautions.
Manufactured by Detmold Medical in Adelaide and included on the TGA Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. Latex free. Also available in Small and Large so every team member can achieve a compliant fit.

What size should our clinic order for fit-testing?
Most staff achieve a fit with Regular. We recommend ordering a box each of Small, Regular and Large for your fit-testing session, then standardising on the sizes your team passes in. JV Medical stocks all three sizes.
Is this N95 also rated P2?
The respirator is tested for facial fit (Total Inward Leakage) to Class P2 of AS/NZS 1716:2012 Section 2.2, alongside N95 filtration to 42 CFR Part 84 — covering both the Australian and US benchmarks clinics look for.
Can it be worn for procedures with splash risk?
Yes. Unlike industrial P2 respirators, this is a surgical respirator with Level 3 blood splash resistance to AS/NZS 4381:2015 — suitable where fluid splash and aerosol precautions overlap.
Why head bands instead of ear loops?
Head bands apply firmer, more even pressure around the seal line, which is why they're the standard for respirators that must pass quantitative fit-testing. Ear-loop respirators rarely achieve an equivalent seal.
Are these Australian made and TGA listed?
Yes — manufactured by Detmold Medical in Adelaide and included on the TGA Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods.
